Watching Michael Moore’s documentary film “Fahrenheit 9/11″ I realized why global community is upset on the United States, apart from the ineffective and war-loving administration of Mr. George Bush Jr.
The existence of terrorism in the U.S. is a depressing reality. Americans experienced it in the bombings of the World Trade Centre in New York City, in the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. and in Mobil Oil corporate headquarters in New York City on 9/11. Even more miserable though, is the reality of own responsibility reflected on excessive U.S. imperialism and exploitation of global forbearance. Fighting global poverty and advocating global freedom do not seem to justify America’s military actions, which have repeatedly created global instability.
America advocates the protection of civil rights in countries that are completely unknown to the U.S. officials. When Bill Clinton decided to bombard Yugoslavia I doubt if he or Mrs. Albright had a clue where this 25 million people nation was. Same goes for Vietnam, Iran, Iraq and so many others. Even more irritating is the arrogance with which the U.S. officials justify their actions and military plans. Always in the name of world piece and global stability, the United States of America destroy long-standing nations with profound institution, religion and history. And then, the global Saviour, the United States of America, offer green cards and immigration rights to people from those destroyed countries.
On the other hand, America has also helped a lot of nations to recover and become competitive and developed. There is no doubt that the Marshall Plan rebuilt Europe after World War II by repelling Communism threats and lowering the barriers of protectionist markets. 13$ billion were offered in economic and technical assistance to assist in the recovery of the European countries that had joined in the Organization for European Economic Cooperation (OEEC). The same happened to Japan, where political reforms took place. So yes, America may be a global stabilizer and in many cases, a Saviour.
To my view, terrorism still exists in the United States because the U.S. officials ignore anti-war demonstrations and voices against war. The average American hates war. U.S. soldiers are being sent in the desert and are getting killed for no reason basically. U.S. families experience a tragic reality, but no one listens to their cries.
Mr. Bush and his team of elite politicians interfere in other countries’ businesses under the emblem of global stability, equality and freedom. However, the truth of the mater is that, it’s all about money, and control.
Terrorism will never cease to exist, unless politicians leave people alone.
